care for your loved one

There are many options to consider when choosing care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. How can you determine which is best? Look for “yes” answers to as many of the following questions as possible when evaluating a residence for your loved one:

Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community Are staff-to-resident ratios appropriate for meeting resident needs?

Are staff ratios increased when residents’ functional and cognitive limitations grow more pronounced?

Is an assessment of the degree of Dementia and amount of functional impairment of each resident completed before move-in and on a routine basis thereafter?

Is information from the assessment used to develop a care plan, so that services are adapted to the schedules and needs of the resident, rather than expecting the resident, to adapt to the facility?

Is the on-going resident care flexible enough to adapt to different day-to-day situations while encouraging residents to remain as independent as possible?
Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community

Parkcliffe offers four distinct levels of care. Periodic assessments of residents are conducted to assure care is properly tailored to meet individual needs. Staffing is increased at each successive level of care, allowing caregivers to be adaptable and responsive while maintaining a safe, secure environment for all residents.

Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community Do all staff members receive specialized training and understand key issues of Alzheimer's / Dementia and their effects?

Are there daily activities scheduled at multi-levels so each resident is able to participate?

Does the environment encourage and support independence while promoting safety?
Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community

Alzheimer’s and Dementia are specific illnesses with well-researched, established “best practices” for care. All Parkcliffe staff receive Alzheimer’s / Dementia-specific training and understand that care must be adapted to specific phases of an individual’s illness. This specialized training enables Parkcliffe staff to facilitate resident independence in a relaxed, open and safe environment.

Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community Do staff members show kindness and respect and treat everyone as an individual?

Is HOW services are provided as important as whether it was provided?

Is the environment non-institutional?  Are the resident’s rooms decorated with personal belongings?

Communication with family is important. Does staff have sufficient personal knowledge of residents to work with and be supportive of their families?
Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community

At Parkcliffe, the dignity and individuality of our residents is as important to us as their health and well-being. We work closely with residents and their loved ones to focus on quality relationships as well as exceptional care.
